Etymology: < Middle French, French anglet little corner, narrow space (mid 13th cent. in Old French) < angle (see angle n.¹) + -et -et suffix¹.Apparently attested earlier in place names, as les Anglettes (1219), les Aungletes (1307), Huntingdonshire, although it is unclear whether these reflect Middle English or Anglo-Norman usage.
