stachybotryotoxicosis Vet. Sci.|stækɪˌbɒtrɪəʊtɒksɪˈkəʊsɪs| [f. mod.L. Stachybotrys (A. C. J. Corda Icones Fungorum (1837) I. 21/1), generic name (f. Gr. στάχυς ear of corn + βότρυς cluster) + toxicosis.] Toxicosis caused by toxins of the graminivorous fungus Stachybotrys alternans, affecting esp. horses and characterized by hæmorrhage and necrosis.
