Centronics, n. Computing.|sɛnˈtrɒnɪks| Also centronics. A proprietary name for various printers and other computer peripherals, used attrib. and in comb. (as Centronics-type) with reference to a widely-used type of interface (the Centronics (parallel) interface) connecting a computer to a printer or other peripheral, through which data in the form of 8-bit characters may be transmitted along eight lines in parallel.
