[a. F. pyrotechnie (1556 in Hatz.-Darm.) or mod.L. pyrotechnia (also formerly in English use), f. Gr. πυρο- pyro- + τέχνη art.]
The art of employing fire: with various connotations.
†1. (military pyrotechny.) The manufacture and use of gunpowder, bombs, fire-arms, etc. Obs.
