‖ calin [Fr.: a. Pg. calaim, a. Arab. qalaﻋī; the ultimate derivation is disputed. See Calay in Yule.] ‘The tin of Siam and Malacca, of which the Chinese make tea-caddies, etc.’, by some said to be an alloy of lead and tin.
