saffian|ˈsæfɪən| Forms: 6 saphian, -ion, 8– saffian. [a. Russ. saf′yan, corruptly a. Rumanian saftian, a. Turkish (Persian) saχtiyān. Cf. Ger. saffian.] A leather made from goatskins or sheepskins tanned with sumach and dyed in bright colours. Also saffian leather.
