‖ peperino Geol.|pɛpəˈriːnəʊ| Also piperno, piperino. [It. peperino, in Florio piperigno, dial. piperno, f. pepere pepper: so called from its consisting of small grains.] A light porous volcanic rock or tuff, usually of a brown colour, formed of sand, cinders, etc. cemented together: a name first given to the tufas of Monte Albano near Rome.
