‖ patera|ˈpætərə| Pl. -æ. Also 9 pattera. [L. patera, f. patēre to be open. Cf. patina, patella.] 1. Rom. Antiq. A broad flat saucer or dish, used esp. in pouring out libations at sacrifices.
