▪ I. ‖ mudir|muːˈdɪə(r)| Also moodir, moodeer. [Turk. use of Arab. mudīr, active pple. of adāra to administer, govern (Dozy), causative of dāra to go round.] In Turkey, the governor of a village or canton; in Egypt, the governor of a province.
