‖ maxilla|mækˈsɪlə| Pl. maxillæ |mækˈsɪliː|. [L. maxilla jaw.] 1. A jaw or jaw-bone, esp. the upper jaw in mammals and most vertebrate animals. inferior maxilla, superior maxilla, the lower, upper jaw.
