promethazine Pharm.|prəʊˈmɛθəziːn| [f. propyl + methyl + -azine (f. azo- + -ine5).] A bitter-tasting antihistamine compound, 10-(2-dimethylaminopropyl)phenothiazine, C17H20N2S, which is used chiefly as an anti-emetic and a sedative, usu. in the form of its hydrochloride, a white powder.
