Little Neck U.S. The name of a locality in Long Island, used attrib. in little neck clam to designate small specimens of the quahog, Mercenaria mercenaria, or other similar clams. Also absol.

No. 27. 234 Another name [for the small round clam] is ‘Little Neck’, derived originally from a neck of land on the north shore of Long Island, known as Little Neck, whose clams had a superior flavour. 1899J.
