leaderene, n.|ˌliːdəˈriːn| Also leaderine. [f. leader n.1 + -ene, perh. by analogy with F. speakerine. For spelling cf. the fem. names Irene, Marlene, etc.] Orig., a jocular or ironic name for Margaret Thatcher (see Thatcherite n. and a.) while Leader of the Opposition and Prime Minister; hence gen., any female leader, esp. a formidable one.
