1938Brain LXI. 321 This phenomenon, commonly called ‘fibrillation’, but more properly called ‘fasciculation’, may therefore represent the intermittent involuntary discharge of single nerve impulses by an abnormal motor neurone. Ibid. 322 In the few seconds following the movement fasciculation is more rapid in that particular unit. 1959H. Grundfest in J. Field Handbk. Physiol.: Neurophysiol. I. v. 164/1 The disorganized contraction of muscles, frequently but incorrectly termed ‘fasciculation’, is due to the initial excitatory effect of the synaptic depolarization. 1963Lancet 19 Jan. 130/1 With decamethonium muscle fasciculation was only slight, whereas with suxamethonium it was severe and long lasting. |
