[MIM*256100] presence of small cysts in the renal medulla associated with anemia, sodium depletion, and chronic renal failure. It is of two types: fatal autosomal recessive or juvenile type (also called familial juvenile nephrophthisis), beginning at about age 10 with an average duration of 6-8 years; and autosomal dominant or adult type.
