Svaliava

a city (since 1957) and administrative center of Svaliava Raion, Transcarpathian Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Located in the wooded Carpathians on the Latoritsa River. Railroad station on the L’vov-Chop line. Svaliava has timber-chemistry and timber combines, a juice and wine plant, a plant for the production of glass containers, a plant of the Elektron industrial and technical association, a brickyard, and a factory for the manufacture of artware and souvenirs. There are mineral springs in the environs of Svaliava.
