Root Aphids
Root Aphids
a group of aphids belonging to various species and living on the roots of herbaceous (less often, woody) plants; dangerous pests of agricultural crops.
Most species of root aphids are flying migratory generations of aphids that begin their life cycle on the aboveground parts of plants. Root aphids infest sugar beets, carrots, lettuce, grains, grapes, rubber plants, fruits, and certain other crops. Counter-measures are biological (for example, the use of ladybugs or larvae of the bulb fly), agrotechnical, and chemical (for example, the use of effective insecticides in the soil).
