Airports have many classifications, depending on their functions, size, and ownership. The broadest classification is civil and military, international and domestic, and so on. The most commonly accepted classifications by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), UK, and Canada are shown in the illustration.
