nodal tachycardiaTachycardia resulting from a focus in the atrioventricular node. It may be the result of digitalis therapy. See also: tachycardianodal tachycardia A type of heart rate abnormality occurring for periods of a few seconds to a day or so in which the heart beats at a rate of 140–220 per minute. The condition may affect otherwise normal hearts and causes faintness and breathlessness. Treatment is needed for prolonged attacks. Also known as supraventricular tachycardia. |
