intimation that must be made to a person of the intention to prosecute him for a road traffic offence and which is necessary if court proceedings are to follow. The notice must be given within 14 days of the alleged commission of the offence. It is necessary only for certain offences. Generally, it does not apply to cases where there has been a road accident.
