Kamozin, Pavel Mikhailovich
Born July 3 (16), 1917, in Bezhitsa. Twice Hero of the Soviet Union (May 1, 1943, and July 1, 1944); captain (1944). Member of the CPSU since 1943.
Kamozin’s father was a worker; Kamozin himself was a lock-smith before joining the Soviet Army in 1938. That year hegraduated from the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45 he fought on the Southern, Transcaucasian, and Northern Caucasian fronts as flight commander, deputy commander, and commander of a squadron of a fighter aviation regiment. Kamozin shot down 35 enemy aircraft in individual combat and 13 in group combat. In the reserves since 1946, Kamozin has been awarded the Order ofLenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of AlexanderNevsky, the Order of the Patriotic War First Class, and various medals.
