Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element; modelled on a Greek lexical item. Etymons: Greek ἀγαθός , -poietic comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ἀγαθός good (see agathism n.) + -poietic comb. form, after Hellenistic Greek ἀγαθοποιός doing good, beneficent. Compare ancient Greek εὐποιητικός beneficent.

Intended to do good; of beneficent tendency.
