Etymology: Partly (i) < Middle French Guillemyne (1480 in the source of quot. 1480, or earlier; < Guillem , the name of William of Maleval (see below) + -yne -ine suffix4), with modification after the male forename Willem (14th cent.), variant of William (see William n.), and partly (ii) < Middle French Willelmin (1556 in the source of quot. 1602, or earlier) < Willelm , the name of St William of Maleval (12th cent.) + -in -ine suffix4. Compare Guillemin n., Guillelmite n., Williamite n.1, and see note at Williamite n.1
Obsolete. rare.
A member of a religious order of hermits founded in the 12th cent. by disciples of St. William of Maleval; = Williamite n.1 Cf. Guillemin n., Guillelmite n.
