Etymology: Apparently < bustle n.2 + -er suffix1.There appears to be no further support for the etymology for this word and bustle n.2 implied by the following:1787 Amer. Museum 2 483/2 If any of my fair readers should wish to know how the bustler came into vogue, they are hereby informed, that in the fall of the year 1783, the duchess of Bustledorse, a German lady, paid a visit to the city of London [etc.].
