Etymology: Apparently < un- prefix2 + ridge n.1The word is apparently only used with allusion to Hebrews 4:12 and Revelation 1:16. Hellenistic Greek τετραχηλισμένα in Hebrews 4:13 (compare quot. 1659) is the passive perfect participle of ancient Greek τραχηλίζειν to bend the neck, (passive) to be laid open (<τράχηλος neck: see trachelo- comb. form).
Obsolete.
transitive. Probably: to cut open and expose or remove the backbone of (cf. ridge n.1 1a).Only in biblical allusions.
