Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin retūsus, retundere.
Etymology: < classical Latin retūsus not sharp, blunt, in post-classical Latin and scientific Latin also having a broad or rounded end with a notch or indentation at the apex (1724 or earlier in botanical, 1758 or earlier in zoological use), use as adjective of past participle of retundere retund v.
