Etymology: < tropological adj. + -ly suffix2, after post-classical Latin tropologice allegorically (4th or 5th cent. in Jerome). Compare Hellenistic Greek τροπολογικῶς, Middle French, French tropologiquement (1575 or earlier), Middle French tropologicalement (1599).
