Etymology: Either < aesth- (in aesthesia n.) + -i- connective + -o- connective + -logy comb. form, or < the stem of ancient Greek αἰσθάνεσθαι to perceive (see aesthesis n.) + -i- connective + -o- connective + -logy comb. form.
