Etymology: < ancient Greek αἴσθησις aesthesis n. (see -ic suffix 2), on the rare analogy of ancient Greek ϕυσικός physic adj. beside ϕύσις physis n., since the morphologically regular formation aesthetics n. was already established in a different sense. Compare aesthesic adj.
The study of the perception of something, esp. music.
