Etymology: < swine n. + influenza n. Compare slightly earlier swine flu n.
A disease of pigs characterized by high fever and respiratory symptoms, caused by infection with type A influenza viruses (typically of the subtypes H1N1 or H3N2), often in conjunction with other respiratory pathogens; (also) influenza in humans caused by viruses of these subtypes. Also called swine flu.
