单词 subiculum
释义

subiculumn.

Brit. /s(j)uːˈbɪkjᵿləm/, /səˈbɪkjᵿləm/, U.S. /suˈbɪkjələm/, /səˈbɪkjələm/
Inflections: Plural subicula.
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin subiculum.
Etymology: < scientific Latin subiculum (1797 or earlier in mycological sense; 1826 or earlier in anatomical sense), probably < classical Latin subic- , stem of subicēs (plural) supports ( < subicere to throw or place under: see subject adj.) + -ulum -ulum suffix. Compare French subicule (1818 or earlier).Alternatively, a derivation of scientific Latin subiculum < classical Latin subucula subucula n. has been suggested, but this presents formal problems. In plural form subicula after the Latin plural form.
