Etymology: < Slavo- comb. form + -philia comb. form, after French slavophilie (1881 or earlier), itself after Russian slavjanofil′stvo (1846 or earlier). Compare earlier Slavophilism n.Compare German Slawophilie (1849 or earlier).
Love for or pride in Slavic countries, people, or culture; support for Slavic traditions and practices, esp. in contrast to those of the West.
