Etymology: < self- prefix + propelling adj. Compare earlier self-propelled adj.
That is impelled or driven onwards without external agency or intervention; spec. (of a vehicle, machine, etc.) that moves under its own power, motorized; (of a wheelchair) designed to be propelled by the user, rather than pushed by somebody else. Occasionally also of a person: self-motivated, dynamic. Cf. self-propelled adj.
