Etymology: < Middle French saverous, savorous (French savoureux ) delicious, flavoursome, (of a woman's mouth or kiss) delightful, sweet, tempting (both c1200 in Old French) < post-classical Latin saporosus saporous adj. Compare Catalan saborós (14th cent.), Spanish sabroso (mid 13th cent.; also c1250 or earlier as saboroso), Portuguese saboroso (13th cent.), Italian saporoso (end of the 12th cent.).
