Origin: Probably formed within English, by compounding; perhaps modelled on a Romani lexical item. Etymons: rum adj.1, pad n.3
Etymology: Probably < rum adj.1 + pad n.3, although it is possible that the first element was influenced also by Romani drom (see drum n.4). With sense 2 compare rum-padder n.
