A chronic disorder of the skin characterized by persistent reddening of the nose and surrounding areas of the face, with telangiectasis and, often, the formation of papules and pustules.Rosacea is most commonly seen in women, although its most extreme form, rhinophyma, is more common in men. Its cause is unknown, although there may be an association with exposure to sunlight and with frequent flushing or blushing. Although it was originally called acne rosacea, it is no longer considered to be a form of acne.
