Etymology: < Robin Hog, nickname of Robert Stephens, first messenger of the press from 1676 to 1697, employed by the Stationers' Company to seek out unlicensed presses and publications.For earlier use of Robin Hog as a nickname for Stephens, compare: 1676 J.
