Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin restibilis.
Etymology: < classical Latin restibilis (of land) that is sown or planted each year without a break, (of crops) produced year after year in the same place, (of a plant) producing a second growth < restare rest v.3 + -bilis -ble suffix.Compare the following earlier (apparently isolated) attestation of uncertain meaning:1590 W. Clever Flower of Phisicke 1 Preserued and renewed by some restible electuaries and such like.
Obsolete. rare.
Of land: that is planted or sown every year. Of a crop: that is produced every year from such land. Of a plant: that produces new growth once cut down or thought to be dead.
