Etymology: < resin n. + -ated suffix. Compare classical Latin rēsīnātus , French résiné (1562 in Middle French, originally and chiefly in vin résiné ), Italian resinato (1542 in a translation of Dioscorides), all in specific use with reference to wine. Compare slightly later resinate v.With resinated wine compare also retsina n.

Chiefly of wine: flavoured with resin, esp. from the containers in which the wine is stored during production. Also: (of materials) impregnated with resin.
