This idea of a re-lexification which left the original syntax almost intact is a very attractive one.

If I change the sentence I am very tired to I am très tired I have in a sense relexified the English sentence. A ‘Latin’ sentence like ego amo tu is of course simply a relexification of I love you with Latin words.
