单词 re-creation
释义

re-creationn.2

Brit. /ˌriːkrɪˈeɪʃn/, U.S. /ˌrikriˈeɪʃ(ə)n/
Forms: late Middle English re-creacion, late Middle English re-creacyoun, 1500s re-creacyon, 1500s– re-creation.
Origin: Probably of multiple origins. Probably partly a borrowing from French. Probably partly a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: French recreacion, recreation; Latin recreātiōn-, recreātiō.
Etymology: Probably originally < Anglo-Norman recreaciun, recreacione, recreacioun and Middle French recreacion, recreation and its etymon classical Latin recreātiōn-, recreātiō, in the specific sense ‘action or process of creating again or anew’ (see recreation n.1), but subsequently reanalysed as an English formation < re- prefix + creation n. Thus probably originally the same word as recreation n.1, but now normally distinguished in pronunciation. Compare also foreign-language parallels at recreation n.1
1. The action or process of creating again or in a new way; the result of this process, a new creation.
