Origin: Probably formed within English, by derivation; perhaps originally modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: re- prefix, ally v.
Etymology: Probably < re- prefix + ally v., in early use perhaps after Anglo-Norman and Middle French realier (late 13th cent. in Anglo-Norman), reallier (1470), variants of ralier , rallier rally v.1
