Origin: A borrowing from Akan. Etymon: Akan Kwasi.
Etymology: < Akan Kwasi, a name commonly given to a child born on Sunday, and taken as a typical name of (and hence generic name for) a black person (compare quot. 1774).
Caribbean (chiefly derogatory).
A generic name for: a black person, esp. one considered as credulous or insignificant.
