Etymology: Apparently < classical Latin putrēdin-, putrēdō putredo n. + -al suffix1. Compare post-classical Latin putredinalis (a1250 in a British source in febris putredinalis (probably) sheep-rot), Middle French putrédinal that produces putridity (16th cent.), both rare.
Obsolete.
