Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek προσόδιον.
Etymology: < ancient Greek προσόδιον processional song, use as noun (short for προσόδιον μέλος ) of neuter of Hellenistic Greek προσόδιος (adjective) processional (though this is apparently first attested later) < ancient Greek πρόσοδος approach, procession (see prosodus n.) + -ιος , suffix forming adjectives. Compare earlier prosodiac n.In form prosodium after Latin neuter nouns in -um.
