Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin postulārius.
Etymology: < classical Latin postulārius that demands or claims (recorded in a 2nd-cent. epitome of a 1st-cent. grammarian) < postulāre to demand (see postulate v.) + -ārius -ary suffix1. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (pǫ·stiŭlări) /ˈpɒstjʊlərɪ/.
Obsolete. rare.
Of the nature of a postulation (in any sense).
