Etymology: < platy- comb. form + -cephalic comb. form. Compare French platycéphale , adjective (see platycephalous adj.). Compare earlier platycephalous adj. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation of the second element as (-sĭfæ·lik) /-sɪˈfælɪk/.
Chiefly Physical Anthropology.
Having a flat or broad head. Also Craniometry: (of a skull) broad or flattened at the top.
