Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek πληρο- (see plerophory n.) + -morph comb. form, after French †pléromorphose (F. Gonnard 1886, in Comptes rendus hebd. de l'Acad. des Sci. 103 1037, the source reviewed in quot. 1887), itself after German Pleromorphose ( A. Kenngott Uebersicht der Resultate mineralogischer Forschungen in den Jahren 1856 und 1857 (1859) 204).
