Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin perficient-, perficiēns.
Etymology: < classical Latin perficient-, perficiēns, present participle of perficere to complete, finish, accomplish (see perfect adj.). Compare Middle French perficient, adjective (1524 in an apparently isolated attestation in grâce perficiente in sense ‘which achieves the salvation of someone’), Old Occitan perficient (c1350), Spanish perficiente, adjective (1487 or earlier; rare).
