Scottish.
1. colloquial. Highland whisky, esp. that (illicitly) distilled over a peat fire and supposedly flavoured with peat-smoke. Also more fully peat-reek whisky.The ‘peat-reek’ flavour (see sense 2) is chiefly that of amyl alcohol, produced by imperfect rectification.
